Part I: Miwa wears a dark blue turtleneck with 3/4 sleeves and a modified slate gray Kirigakure flak jacket worn around her waist with her Kirigakure plate sewn in. She wears dark brown camo pants and black ninja boots. Underneath, Miwa wears a black body suit and black ninja boots. Miwa also carries two scrolls in a belt around her waist.
Part II: Miwa wears a pin-striped dark blue shirt sleeveless shirt which covers her midriff partially. Underneath her breasts, Miwa  wears her black Kirigakure headband as a belt. Underneath, Miwa wears a black body suit and in cold weather, Miwa wears long camouflage arm guards. She wears a black belt with two straps and a little armor on her right side. For pants, Miwa wears brown camouflage pants with black boots that are just a bit below her knees. Miwa wears black gloves in combat and carries two scrolls on her belt. She wears a bandage around her upper right arm and a a long camo arm warmer on her lower left arm. On ANBU missions, Miwa wears the standard ANBU uniform and her mask is a peacock.

Miwa is a dangerous opponent in combat to face being one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist--she has a limited arsenal but she uses her skill set to her full advantage. There are not many female taijutsu users and Miwa is proud to call herself a kenjutsu user. Her fighting style was heavily influenced by her idol, Ameyuri Ringo--another female member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen. Miwa is naturally weak to Water Release techniques. She is easily flustered and she can be lured into attacking even when it is not necessary or good. Also, Miwa is weak to genjutsu users and she dislikes fighting long-range fighters.
Abilities:
Kenjutsu: Miwa is very adept with swords and she began her bokken training quite early under her grandfather, who was a Ninja Swordsman before he retired. Miwa feels most comfortable fighting with Kusari, which is a large rectangular sword segmented and held together by large chakra chains. She can extend the segments and wrap it around the opponent while cutting them with the sword's blade. It is rather heavy and she will keep it in a scroll. As a result, Miwa keeps her sword in a scroll until it is time for battle. As a result, Miwa is rather slow but she boasts that her sword increased her strength tenfold. When she is looking for a fast-paced battle, Miwa will use her curved Kirigakure dagger instead. She will use chakra flow to enhance the sharpness of her blades.

Nature Transformation: When she doesn't use kenjutsu, Miwa will use her primary nature, Fire Release. Her brand of Fire Ninjutsu is unique as it includes smoke and ash. She has little control over her secondary nature and she uses it to increase the potency of her attacks. Because of her unique and deadly ninjutsu combination, Miwa is known as the Kemuri Onna no Kirigakure for her Fire Release techniques and her fiery disposition in combat. Miwa usually uses her Fire Release techniques for mid-range combat if she must. Water Release is her natural weakness and she is strong against Earth Release techniques.

Intelligence: Miwa has always been intelligent and she uses her analytical nature in combat. Although Miwa does have the brains for tactics, she will abandon them as she is easily flustered and lured into attacking. However, if she feels like one approach is not working she will usually switch tactics.
She usually senses when she is caught in a genjutsu and she has a keen eye for traps.

Personality: Her personality is a dominant-hedonistic personality type--she's governed by instincts and emotions rather than logic at times. Kirigakure shinobi are discouraged from showing their emotions and that has been beaten into Miwa, so she prefers to hide her emotions behind a sordid and mocking smile. Very intelligent and analytical by nature, especially in combat. Confident in herself and her abilities--she knows that she's good, and she isn't afraid to show off. Prideful and comes off as slightly condescending to others. Slightly superficial. Although Miwa can come off as a huge bitch, she does care about her very few friends. She has a small soft spot for small children and she enjoys watching the little ones play and train--knowing that they are Kirigakure's future. The archtype that is behind Miwa's personality would be a femme fatale.
Miwa has a subtle and slightly twisted sense of humor--whenever she cracks a joke, most people don't get it or find it morbid. Needless to say, others tend to stay away from her and do not like her personally, but she is one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen and she is a well-respected ninja.
Miwa is devoutly devoted to Kirigakure and will defend it to the death; she will even defend Yagura's bloody reign. She works closely with the Mizukage and some have even accused her of having affections for Mei, although Miwa denies this with a chuckle.
In battle, Miwa tends to be more aggressive and 'fiery' and she tends to let loose. Her motto is the best defense is a great offense...although she tries not to let her heart get ahead of her head. She does enjoy talking smack in battle saying that "it's not bragging if you can back it up." Can dish it out, but can't take it; she gets flustered by others talking about her. Her bad temper and sharp tongue will get the better of her and she can end up seriously harming someone--even if she does not necessarily mean to.
Some positive aspects of Miwa's personality is that she is quite brave and unafraid of any challenges that face her. Very passionate about what she does and enjoys every day she is alive. Can be quite considerate to those she cares about and will go out of her way to make them happy--and if someone happens to be bothering them or upsetting them, Miwa will "take care" of that person if you know what I mean. She is also an opportunist and will never a good chance slip. Finds no shame in hard work. Coming from a family of blacksmiths, Miwa is actually quite handy and inventive. She has a gift for designing and creating weapons although she is not creative in any other aspect; she is terrible at singing, writing, drawing... etc.
Although Miwa doesn't like to read much, she does enjoy reading books detailing Kirigakure's history. To her, Kirigakure is a unique village and fascinating--and its' bloody history only makes it more interesting to her. Simply captivated by the subject.
Miwa is deathly afraid of insects--almost all insects, save for dragonflies. Even butterflies. They freak her out. She also detests snakes, although that's just pure repulsion than fear.
Miwa's alignment would be chaotic good--as in she is allied with the good guys and she doesn't mind fighting for a just cause if she must--but she tends to bend the rules and whatnot as she goes along. Unlike a lawful good character, Miwa would have no inhibitions about breaking the laws to do what is right.

Past: Miwa was born to Mitsuru and Mika Yuzuoka on March 10th in their home in Kirigakure. Mitsuru was a civilian and a blacksmith who ran his own weapons shop and did commissions for Kirigakure ninja. Mika was a hunter-nin who unfortunately died in childbirth. Around the time that Miwa was born, Mitsuru's father, Noriaki, moved in to help take care of the newborn girl. Miwa grew up during Yagura's reign in the Bloody Mist Era. Her home life was relatively comfortable; her father provided enough money although he did not provide much emotional comfort to Miwa. Instead, Noriaki filled that void for Miwa and the two had a close relationship. Noriaki doted on Miwa and he taught her various things before she entered the academy.
    Things were tense in Kirigakure at that time; people with kekkei genkai were persecuted. Children were subjected to the ruthless academy graduation ceremony and many suspected that their own Mizukage was being manipulated. Miwa's time in the academy was brief and for the most part, very sad. She prefers not to speak of her time in the academy other than she saw an older student with a kekkei genkai beaten severely with no intervention from the teachers. She tried to stay out of trouble as best she could, keeping under the radar out of fear that she would be beaten and perhaps killed as well. She does not speak of the circumstances under which she graduated but she does confirm that it was rather disturbing.
   Noriaki began kenjutsu training as soon as possible; he did not want his grandchild slain by some cur. Miwa began with bokken and moved up the ranks. Surprisingly spry for an old man, Noriaki was able to keep up with Miwa. He also taught her self-defense techniques and a little bit of taijutsu. As a present for graduation, Miwa's grandfather presented her with a curved dagger. As a genin, Miwa made a bad mistake of befriending a boy on another team: Saito. She thought of him as a worthy challenge and the two would spar together playfully. Their superiors found this troubling and rather bad to be frank. So when Miwa was able to become a chuunin, she had to battle her friend, Saito, one on one. Miwa made her first kill with her grandfather's dagger in that battle. As her superiors hoped and expected, that triggered the emotional conditioning process. Miwa began becoming more apathetic to others. Hardening her heart, Miwa began training in earnest and she would never let others get in her way.
   Noriaki passed away shortly after Miwa became a chuunin. He left his trademark sword, Kusari, to her. Miwa began training with the sword, which was not easy: the sword was incredibly heavy and hard to handle at first. Before Miwa could even use the sword she had to dispel a complex seal on the sword's handle to ensure that no one would get their hands on the sword. Miwa furthered her training in hopes of one day becoming a Kiri Swordsman, like her grandfather. She particularly admired Ameyuri Ringo, the only kunoichi in the group. One day, Miwa hoped to surpass even Ameyuri as a great swordsman of Kiri. She piqued the interest of the group after her one-on-one battles went well. Miwa was a candidate for the group but she would never be considered a member.
    At one time, Miwa cultivated a small rivalry with Tsuyumi Hamasaki, a girl in her age group who she particularly envied.
   Miwa became a jounin after displaying ruthless might in the jounin exams as well as developing her skills. She was assigned a team: a team of all girls. She was utterly unprepared for having a team and the problem was not so much with the girls, but herself. Miwa was not used to having others dependent on her. She nearly failed a mission due to her own incompetence when handling children. Miwa was barely older than the girls she taught. However, Miwa was able to pull herself together after the mission and sought to have a relationship with all of her girls. One thing that Miwa feared was that the next generation would carry on old hatred and bad blood from the past: she wanted to prevent that if she could. Miwa had a particularly good relationship with her pupil Manami Takitsubo. At first, Miwa did not like her at all. Manami appeared to be too fragile to be a kunoichi: Manami had little talent for ninjutsu or genjutsu unlike her teammates. In fact, Miwa did not call Manami by her own name, calling her "kid" until she deemed that Manami was worthy of respect. On a mission, the team was surrounded by rogues. Manami aided her team by fighting off shinobi with a curved dagger, refusing to let down until they were all dead or gone. When the rest of the girls were asleep, Miwa admitted to Manami that she was wrong about her and referred to her as Manami. She admired Manami's resolve and her spirit, something sorely lacking in most Kiri shinobi. Manami would listen to Miwa's stories while helping her clean her sword. This is a bond that carries into the Naruto storyline. Manami and Miwa have a bond of mutual respect.
  Miwa became an official member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen after proving mastery with her grandfather's sword. Her first appearance in Part I is with her team in the chuunin exams.

-Miwa's favorite word is spirit.
-Miwa's favorite foods are chopped up banana pieces, mangoes, and udon noodles; her least favorite food is raisins. The reason is that she does not like the texture.
-Miwa wishes to fight Kisame Hoshigaki, Tsuyumi Hamasaki, and Zabuza Momochi.
-Miwa claims that her great-great grandmother was a Hozuki, although the validity of that claim is questionable.

-Miwa's last name, Yuzuoka, means "citrus fruit tree". Like all of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, Miwa's surname is related to fruit.
